No appointments are needed. Those auditioning will be reading from the script and pages will be provided.
We are seeking 7 men and 3 Women. Actors of all ethnicities and experience levels are encouraged to audition. All roles are open.
Performance dates for the show are February 9-23, 2019. Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 3pm. You must be available for all performance dates in order to be cast. Rehearsal dates are to be determined and will be available at auditions.
The production is being directed by Tim Phillips with Stage Manager Amber Dunphy.
ABOUT THE SHOW Leon Tolchinsky is ecstatic. He's landed a terrific teaching job in an idyllic Russian hamlet. When he arrives he finds people sweeping dust from the stoops back into their houses and people milking upside down to get more cream. The town has been cursed with Chronic Stupidity for 200 years and Leon's job is to break the curse. No one tells him that if he stays over 24 hours and fails to break the curse, he too becomes Stupid. But, he has fallen in love with a girl so Stupid that she has only recently learned how to sit down.
AVAILABLE ROLES: LEON TOLCHINSKY - The story teller of the show. He is a school teacher, somewhat bookish, but very able. Falls in love with the town and the people, especially the doctor's daughter. SNETSKY - male, stupid shepherd MAGISTRATE - male, the stupid magistrate SLOVITCH - male, the stupid butcher MISHKIN - male, the stupid postman YENCHA - female, the stupid fish vendor DR. ZUBRITSKY - male, older, has a daughter near the same age as Leon. LENYA - female, Dr. Zubritsky's wife SOPHIA ZUBRITSKY - female, their daughter GREGOR YOUSEKEVITCH - older male, a count who feels destined to marry the much younger Sophia; keeper of the curse.
