Seeking an actor of color to play the role of Marianne Angelle in their upcoming production of THE REVOLUTIONISTS.

Marianne Angelle is a badass black woman in Paris. She is from San Domingue in the Caribbean, a free woman, tough, classy, vigilant, the sanest one of them all.

No appointments are needed. Those auditioning will be reading from the script and pages will be provided.

Phoenix Stage Company is an inclusive community theater. We are a 100% volunteer company; no actor stipends are available.

Proof of vaccination against Covid19 is required to audition and be considered for a role in the production.

Production dates are April 23rd thru May 7th, Fridays & Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 3pm. You must be available for all performance dates and Tech week rehearsals (April 18 thru 21) to be offered a role in the production.

More about the show:
Four beautiful, badass women lose their heads in this irreverent, girl-powered comedy set during the French Revolution’s Reign of Terror. Playwright Olympe de Gouges, assassin Charlotte Corday, former queen (and fan of ribbons) Marie Antoinette, and Haitian rebel Marianne Angelle hang out, murder Marat, and try to beat back the extremist insanity in 1793 Paris. This grand and dream-tweaked comedy is about violence and legacy, art and activism, feminism and terrorism, compatriots and chosen sisters, and how we actually go about changing the world. It’s a true story. Or total fiction. Or a play about a play. Or a raucous resurrection…
